Carbon County’s Panic! was written and performed by veteran musician/producers Charles Newman and JJ Appleton. Newman achieved notoriety in the mid 90’s with the inclusion of his band PLEASE in the film and on the platinum selling soundtrack for cult classic “Empire Records”, while Appleton was signed to Universal UK touring with the likes of Darius Rucker and others of the era.. The two attended Berklee College of Music together and reconnected throughout the pandemic creating a batch of songs that became Carbon County.

While Newman was working as the music supervisor and composer for the Y2K inspired film “Millennium Bugs” the song Panic! became a perfect fit as a featured track for the film.

About Millennium Bugs
A love letter to a time when out internet was dial- up, it would take an entire night to download a song from Napster, and we all had to be kind and rewind. Millennium bug is set during the last week of 1999 as two best friends, Kelly and Miguel must face crossroads of where their lives are and where they are going. The uncertainty and pressure they feel mirrors that of a nation on the cusp of a new millennium and a changing landscape.

This film is a reflection of an isolated generation who were only beginning to scratch the surface of a world that would soon be globally connected. As the protagonists navigate the new millennium, they realize that it's only through their experiences, failures and their friendship that will make it through.

The 90's were a golden age of teen comedies and this movie seeks to pay tribute to that. With a 100% 90's soundtrack, this movie will pay homage to the music-driven teen classics such ass Empire records, Clerks and Can't hardly wait while maintaining the dramatic undertones of a coming of age film like Dead poet's society and Good Will Hunting.

While the movie seeks to embrace 90's nostalgia, the characters are rooted in real emotions, vulnerabilities and shortcomings. The characters are flawed, insecure and unsure but ultimately guided by a principal to do the right thing while not selling out on who they are. A notion and ideal that is certainly something our world is facing today

The film is written and directed by Alejandro Montoya Marin who's last film "Monday" was part of the Robert Rodriguez/ THe El Rey Network's TV series Rebel Without A Crew"
