Pete Rubens
Pete Rubens is a singer-songwriter and musician in Brooklyn, NY. A versatile musician on the Americana music scene, his instruments include guitar, banjo, bass, piano, dobro and accordion. He can be found performing with bands in various styles including rock, folk, blues, zydeco and bluegrass.
Pete spent many years fronting the rock band The Old Nationals. “Steeped in the vernacular of American roots music and offering a fresh take on rock and roll, country, blues, R&B, and bluegrass . . . [he] carries the torch of this musical heritage without being stale or redundant,“ hailed Bomb Magazine. “Rubens blows a mean blues harp, and also mans the keys—from rollicking piano and reedy accordion to a growling Hammond organ.”
Pete's own unique Americana songwriting style is displayed on his 2013 debut solo album Sweet Talkin' which unplugged the amplifiers and declared an acoustic aesthetic. Pulling from the tradition of old-fashioned American storytelling, the album has been recognized as “...a masterpiece in the tradition of acoustic Americana music...”
