growing up feeling like an outsider in guam, music was always a huge comfort to me. i hummed myself to sleep at 6 months old, started singing as soon as i could talk, learned piano at 8, started writing songs at 10, and eventually picked up ukulele, guitar, and bass in middle and high school. music became a way for me to connect with people and express the feelings that i could never properly express through words alone. i grew a following posting my original songs and doing animal parodies of Mitski’s ‘strawberry blond’ on tiktok, and found so much comfort in the fact that more people than i ever thought possible could relate to me through my little tunes. i’m in college right now — always good to have a backup plan — but i hope to make music into a full-time career and be able to continue to create music that you can cry AND bop your head along to (sometimes at the same time).
